Happy World AIDS Day 2023! Today we were in Magug Happy World AIDS Day 2023! Today we were in Magugu celebrating #worldaidsday2023 with our annual celebrations of free HIV testing, teaching, music, and soccer. We tested a total of 167 people. This year’s theme was “Let Communities Lead” to honor the impact communities have in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We have seen firsthand the value of community health workers and the relentless commitment they have to helping those living with HIV accept their status and adhere to medications. We have seen communities fight stigma so that beloved community members who just happen to be living with HIV are loved and accepted. And we have seen communities adapt and change practices to reduce HIV transmission. Thank you to the communities that have evolved to fight HIV/AIDS, to the people who work tirelessly every day to fight against HIV/AIDS, and to those living with HIV who make their communities stronger. We are here to work alongside you.
Today is World AIDS Day! Join us for a celebrati Today is World AIDS Day! Join us for a celebration at Alayagaya-Dareda Kati for free health services and lots of fun or follow our stories. The theme for World AIDS day this year is EQUALIZE/ IMARISHA USAWA, a call to action to address inequalities and end AIDS. On this day every year, we take the time to reflect on how far we have come in the fight against HIV/AIDS, the lives lost, and the lives saved and thriving from scientific breakthroughs and public health interventions. Health inequalities still exist within communities, regions, countries, and around the world. We are proud to do our part in addressing these some of these inequalities by traveling to hard-to-reach areas with limited access to health services. There is still a long way to go in the fight against HIV/AIDS but we will be here fighting. #tukopamoja #worldaidsday #worldaidsday2022 #hiv #hivpositive #hiveducation #sikuyaukimwiduniani2022

Happy New Year from TAT! 2020 has been a year of Happy New Year from TAT! 2020 has been a year of challenges and moments of action to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. So how did we respond? When the world shut down in March, we could no longer conduct mass community testing days or large school gatherings. But there was one thing we could do. We could make sure our clients living with HIV were safe and had the education they needed to stay healthy. And that’s exactly what we did. We made sure our clients received their medications as usual, but we also provided our clients with reusable cloth masks, a refillable bottle of hand sanitizer, and soap. We reminded people to follow the Ministry of Health's recommendations of washing hands and social distancing. As Tanzania reopened in July, we resumed our services at the end of August per Tanzanian government recommendations and guidelines. We ended the year with a total of 3,821 people tested for HIV, with a special campaign at the Manyara Fishing Grounds. With 2021 approaching, we are excited for what the new year will bring. If you would like to support our work, all donations will be tripled thanks to a generous donor. Your $1 becomes $3 until midnight tonight. Donate at https://thriveafyatanzania.org/donate We hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy wherever you may be in the world. Thank you to all those who have supported us this year! We wish you a happy and healthy 2021!
Today is #worldaidsday and we celebrated with our Today is #worldaidsday and we celebrated with our annual event in Mwada. We tested 300 people for HIV and provided other health services alongside the Babati District Council. On this day, we remember all those who have lost their lives to AIDS, remain inspired by those who are living healthy lives with HIV, and stay motivated to prevent further HIV infections. Today, we reflect on how far we have come since the beginning of the HIV epidemic. There are antiretroviral medications that can suppress HIV to be virtually undetectable, rapid tests that give results in 15-20 minutes, and a more educated community. Most importantly, we have people living with HIV living long, healthy lives. We also reflect on how much work there is still left to do. People living with HIV still have to take medications daily for the rest of their lives. Many people struggle with accessing medications whether it be due to distance from a clinic or fear of stigma while others have difficulty adhering to medications. While education among the general population has improved drastically, many people still lack the basic knowledge of HIV transmission and prevention and hold some common misconceptions. Gender-based violence helps fuel the HIV epidemic requiring our responses to be multi-faceted. So on this #worldaidsday2020 , we would like to thank the countless individuals who have worked hard and continue to work hard alongside TAT near and far to improve the lives of people living with HIV around the world. The theme for World AIDS Day in Tanzania is “Mshikamano wa Kimataifa, Tuwajibike kwa Pamoja” or “Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility.” This theme is particularly fitting for 2020. TAT is proud to play our role in improving the health of our community. We are grateful for all those around the world doing the same. If you would like to support us on this Giving Tuesday and World AIDS Day, all donations will be triple matched. You can donate at https://thriveafyatanzania.org/donate #worldaidsday #givingtuesday #globalsolidarity #sharedresponsibility #hiv #aids #health #healtheducation #sikuyaukimwiduniani2020
